The quiet after the answer

Most of us pray the way we check the weather. We want to know what is coming so we can dress for it. We ask, we wait a little, and the moment something arrives that looks like an answer we are already out the door.
The answer was never the point. The quiet after it was.
Sit in that quiet for a minute. Not to hear more — you have heard enough. Sit in it because it is the only place where what you heard can actually change you.
Tomorrow you will check the weather again. That is fine. But today, before you go, stay one more breath.
